SAL&CO is the management company for Iraqi-Canadian singer-songwriter Ali Gatie, who was born on May 31, 1997. His song “It’s You” became a global hit in 2019; it peaked at number 70 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 30 in Australia, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden. It also reached the top 10 in New Zealand and Germany.

Iraqi parents welcomed Ali Gatie into the world in Yemen in 1997. His family first settled outside of Toronto, Canada, then moved to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. His music was inspired by the music of Ed Sheeran, J. Cole, and Frank Ocean, whom he grew up listening to.

Ali Gatie, who has been under SAL&CO’s management since May 2020, began recording music in 2016 after deciding to pursue a career in music at the age of 18. He eventually left the university where he was studying business as a result of this choice. He triumphed in a Joe Budden-hosted RhymeStars online competition in 2017. Warner Records signed him in 2018 after he released a number of singles. With the release of “Moonlight,” which had almost 14 million views on YouTube, he experienced his first commercial success. When “It’s You” was released in June 2019, it became his big break and a “explosive streaming story” with over 650 million plays as of December 2019. Gatie’s debut EP, “You,” was released on November 8, 2019, along with a 12-minute film featuring seven new songs.
